Why should I govern the use of SharePoint?

On many occassions I am asked, "Why should my organization govern the use of SharePoint?" As we prepare for the release of the next version, SharePoint 2010, It is an opportunity to refocus and strategize the deployment and operations of SharePoint. In other words, it is time to get it right.

This group is dedicated to the science of SharePoint governance. It is my hope that members of Discover SharePoint will take this group and run with it.
